DPD has released a revised proposal to update regulations governing trees on private property, which is now available at www.seattle.gov/dpd/planning/trees. The intent of this update is to better implement the goals of the Urban Forest Management Plan by improving existing tree regulations and adding a number of new measures that would expand or improve development standards to better mitigate the impacts of development.

Revisions were done in response to comments received during public process from July through December of 2010, as well as ongoing discussions with the Mayor and City Councilmembers. DPD is seeking feedback on the revised proposal and draft legislation through October 1, 2012. After that date, DPD will revise the legislation and post it online before submitting it to the City Council for their consideration in early 2013.

More information on the revised proposal, including summary documents, draft legislation, and frequently asked questions, is available at www.seattle.gov/dpd/planning/trees.
